Thai paper: Bangkok trip was for golf, shopping

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was in Thailand on a private trip to meet his Thai counterpart Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha and also to rest during the New Year's holiday, Bangkok Post reported today.

Quoting sources, it stated that Najib and his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor made a visit to Thailand on January 2.The report coincided with the presence of the government jet in the Thai capital where the Airbus A319 had been tracked flying from Dubai to Bangkok early that morning."They went shopping, played golf and stayed overnight at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok," the report added.
It was a private trip, not an official one, according to Bangkok Post.
Having faced heat for being in Hawaii while the worst flood in decades ravaged the east coast, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak could now be facing more flak for his Bangkok trip last week. The term ‘fraud’ refers to an intentional act by one or more individuals among management, those charged with governance, employees, or third parties, involving the use of deception to obtain an unjust or illegal advantage.
A thousand spins by BN, the Finance Ministry and its cohorts of brainless bloggers will not change that fact that 1MDB is already a dead duck in the water.
Let 1MDB issue the initial public offering (IPO) and see the response. See if anyone will buy the IPO. It will end up like Felda Global Ventures Holding Berhad (FGV).
Face it guys, there is no more to keep revaluing the land to up its book value nor is there any more power projects to be awarded to 1MDB to keep it afloat. It’s time to face the unpleasant truth, short-term or long-term. Actually 1MDB is not really another Greece. It’s more like another Enron.Markets are heading towards their biggest daily fall in nearly three weeks, tracking lower global shares. Here are some of the reasons why markets are falling:After six months of falling oil prices, investors are starting to worry that the prolonged slump is signaling a weaker global economy.

That fear shook financial markets on Monday as oil plunged again, dipping below $50 for the first time in more than five years and triggering a big sell-off, not just among energy stocks but across the entire stock market.

Stocks had already endured a weak opening because of concerns that Greece could leave the eurozone, adding to worries about the poor outlook for growth in that region. As oil slid further, the selling accelerated, pushing the Standard & Poor's 500 index to its biggest loss in months.

This is as defined in International Standards on Auditing (ISA) 240 which was issued in 2009 as a result of the Enron fraud. Googlethis and read on the role of auditors regarding fraud. Two auditing firms of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) have resigned earlier. Now Deloitte is the latest auditor but the audit reports are still not issued yet. Have the auditors complied with ISA 240?

Fraud is fraud and the rakyat have every right to know. Be informed as it is your money. You can have the best business brain as your CEO but fraud by those in control can still be perpetrated.

How many CEOs will expose the fraud by those charged with governance in their companies? None. How many ministers will expose fraud in the government or by the CEO? Within the space of the last five years, 1MDB board has had two chairpersons, three CEOs, and three auditing firms.

If that isn't enough to show how bad a shape it is in, it has also failed to meet its RM2 billion loan repayments twice already and has just been given up to the 13th of this month to settle it. Only morons think it is standing on firm ground.

The plummeting oil price surely has made this millstone hung from Malaysians' necks yet heavier. Any type of commitment or guarantee made by the federal government on a private business entity must be transparent and justifiable, especially when it involves billions of ringgit of taxpayers' money (or liability).

It seems 1MDB is struggling to convince the masses that it is a viable and sustainable model to begin with, what more during the execution part.

Yes, maybe it is a fantastic business model devised by the best financial minds around  was involved, but we have witnessed many mega projects crumbled to pieces (Perwaja, Port Klang Free Zone, National Feedlot Corporation, Malaysia Airlines, to name a few) due to rent-seeking activities, direct awards, abuse of power and lip service.
The issue, however, became worse when the prime minister did not return to Malaysia on the government jet but instead flew home on a Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) passenger aircraft, fuelling further speculation as to the whereabouts of the government jet and those on board.
It was reported yesterday that the Airbus A319, bearing tail number 9M-NAA, was parked at Subang Airport, after landing safely at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) the night before.
Prior to that, the plane was reported to have been in three different cities in the United States, followed by stops in London, Dubai and finally, Bangkok.
The Prime Minister's Office, in a statement to veteran journalist Datuk A.Kadir Jasin, said Najib had not been able to to use the official jet to return to Malaysia on December 27 as it had "technical issues".

Rosmah Mansor “ambitious and arrogant”

I did not say that, it was Jessica Tan, from TODAY, in an article headlined: Under fire – the “First Lady in Waiting” on June 27.

Right to procreation survives incarceration. High Court allows jail inmates to have sex with their partners

Researchers have found evidence that men evolved better navigation ability than women to engage in increased sexual activities because men with better spatial skills - the ability to mentally manipulate objects - can roam farther and beget children with multiple mates.

By testing and interviewing dozens of members of the Twe and Tjimba tribes in north-west Namibia, anthropologists showed that men who did better on a spatial task not only travelled farther than other men but also had children with more women.

"Navigation ability facilitates traveling longer distances and exploring new environments. The farther you travel, the more likely you are to encounter new mating opportunities," said Layne Vashro, the study's first author and Post-Doctoral Researcher in Anthropology from the University of Utah in the US.

"The Twe and Tjimba were good subjects for the study because they travel over distances of 120 miles during a year, navigating on foot in a wide-open natural environment like many of our ancestors," Vashro added.

The tribes have a comparatively open sexual culture.

"They have a lot of affairs with people they are not married to and this is accepted in their culture. Many men have children by women other than their wives," the authors said.

The findings showed that men travelled father than women and to more places than women.

Men reported visiting 3.4 unique locations across 30 miles per location on an average in a year, while women reported visiting only two locations across 20 miles, Vashro said.

"It looks like men who travel more also have children from more women - what you would expect if mating was the payoff for travel," he added.

The study was published in the journal Evolution and Human Behavior.
